Regional Director (8)

Overview

Regional Directors are Surge team members that are responsible for overseeing the church planting efforts in a specific region of the world:

  1. Central America

  2. South America

  3. Africa

  4. Middle East

  5. South Asia

  6. East Asia

  7. Oceania

  8. Europe

Commitment

Regional Directors are able to devote enough of their workweek to fulfill the Surge responsibilities listed below to expand the church planting movement in their region of the world.

Responsibilities

  • Ongoing

    • Develop a relationship and maintain a consistent connection with the region’s Sending leaders to encourage and minister to them

    • Identify and raise up new Sending Leaders within the countries of the region

    • Identify and correct any issues with the region’s leaders that are not in alignment with the Surge mission and values

    • Advise the Surge Executive Team on the best information and strategies for effective work in the region

  • Weekly

    • Join Surge weekly relational check-in (30 mins)

  • Monthly

    • Join Surge monthly Executive Strategy Meeting (60 mins)

    • Host monthly Zoom meeting for Sending Leaders in the region (60 mins)

  • Quarterly

    • Travel throughout the region to encourage current leaders, see their church planting efforts, and host informational meetings for potential leaders

  • Yearly

    • Attend the yearly Surge Summit and coordinate held in the United States (1 week)

Compensation

  • Monthly support stipend

  • Monthly travel reimbursement budget

Term

3-year commitment that can be renewed if Surge and the Regional Director believe it’s the Lord’s will.


Sending Leader (50-100)

Overview

Sending Leaders are directly responsible for training, sending, and overseeing individual church planters. There may be several Sending Leaders in one country working together or there could be a country with only one active Sending Leader. There are multiple scenarios that exist and are driven by relationships with leaders, not geography.

Commitment

Regional Directors commit to planting at least 5 new churches each year.

Responsibilities

  • Ongoing

    • Properly train each Planting Pastor before submitting them to the Surge Project for funding.

    • Regularly communicate with and encourage the Planting Pastors they are responsible for.

    • Identify and recruit new church planting candidates.

  • Monthly

    • Join monthly Sending Leader call for the region (60 mins)

  • Yearly

    • Attend the yearly Surge Summit and coordinate held in the United States when possible (1 week)

    • Meet one-on-one with the Regional Director

Compensation

  • Sending Leader’s Share of church plant support (10%) to reimburse expenses related to


Planting Pastor

Overview

Planting Pastors are the church planters establishing new churches. They are what Surge is all about!

Commitment

Grow a new church to 20+ committed believers in the first year.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-Launch

    • Complete a thorough profile be eligible for support

    • Complete the Surge Training courses online

  • Year 1

    • Connect with Sending Leader each month for coaching

    • Send 6-month update report into Surge HQ

  • Year 2

    • Send 12-month update report into Surge HQ

    • Begin discipling leaders for multiplication

  • Year 3

    • Multiply a new church community in a surrounding area

Compensation

  • 1-year of personal support (varies by region)
